exhibition venue:
Town Hall
Joanna Vestey, an award winning photographer, is interested in people and their environment.
'Under The Westway' depicts the way a community has been forged out of the devasting effect of a new road. Built in the 60's, the mile long Westway is the elevated section of the M40 motorway. It serves as one of the main arterial routes into central London speeding tens of thousands of cars over the community of North Kensington daily. Below it lies 23 acres which, after the demonstrations and riots of the 60's, are now run by a local trust for community purposes.
