David Brims
exhibition venue:
Hereford Cathedral
David tells a story about a watershed moment in his life.
His father died of a stroke in the early hours of a May morning. Before that moment the seven year old David understood everything, and afterwards, nothing. Writing in the book ‘The Remembered Self’ Jefferson Singer discusses the vividness of self-defining moments, and with particular emphasis on negative memories, says: -"… the only adequate response one can make is the act of creation".
Now retired, David had a near death experience in which he met his father again and this incident compelled him to tell the story around his early tragedy.
