exposure 2003 - call for submissionsWhen Professor Mark Haworth-Booth, Senior Curator of the V & A's Canon Gallery, opened exposure this year he commended it for its "generous spirit" and the fact that the festival "regards documentary photography has having important creative elements and vision" something which, he stressed, is crucial. He emphasised that photography festivals were a good showcase for the release of new talent and were fast becoming as important as magazines in this aspect.Following the largest festival so far, with over 28 exhibitions from 9 countries, the 14th hereford photography festival is now seeking new work from photographers for exposure 2003 opening Saturday 4th October until Saturday 1st November 2003. Festival Director, Robert Ashby, says
Submissions of exhibitions can be either fully worked-up or work in progress. The work should form a complete set of images on a clear theme and not be a collation of images of the photographer's own particular style. The images need to work as a story or a complete presentation of the subject and a statement of the background will be required. The Submissions' Selection Panel will meet in February and March for
a two-stage selection process and all photographers will be notified of
the selection by the end of April. The closing date for submissions is
Friday 31st January 2003. Further information on submitting work for the 2003 festival is available HERE |
