new york hotel story
Nathalie Daoust
exhibition venue:
The Courtyard
The Carlton Arms Hotel, located at the corner of 25th Street and 3rd Avenue, New York City, has created over the past 30 years an unique way to promote artists by inviting a foreign painter, sculptor or photographer to decorate and transform a room.
In 1997, Nathalie Daoust was invited by the hotel to create a room with the theme "a childs dream". Once this project was completed, she was asked to produce a documentary on the hotel. For two years she lived in every room for a few weeks to absorb them and completely explore the universe of each artist, and then communicated these feelings through photography.
