Thirtyfive
Jane Karup Pedersen The photographic project 'Thirtyfive' was inspired by the discovery of my father's portraits of himself with my mother. Taken in the sixties, these images show a young couple in various recognizable, yet peculiar situations.
Using these images as a link to examine social and cultural heritage in families, in this case my own, I re-staged my parents in 2002. Choosing my father's aesthetics by keeping the same situations and similar environments from the original images, the two sets of photographs show subtle changes. Their contrasting histories construct the story of my parents' relationship and illustrate how time has affected their solidarity and physique.
