written in stone

Written in Stone is a project that I began in 1993, to photograph sites, where ancient cultures have left their legacy in stone, in the forms of engravings, sculptures and cities. Despite their ethnologic and geographic distance, these archaeological places have a universal connection in their desire to record their stories of survival, journeys, battles, victories, ,their gods and their myths. This exhibition features the Spirit Road Sculptures of the tombs of Chinese emperors, the jungle temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia and Persepolis, the summer palace of King Darius in Persia.
