HPF Projects

Hereford Photography Festival works in partnership with
public, education and community sectors to create new,
temporary, place/people-specific art commissions. Artists
engage with groups through our programme,
creating a critical-practice context for their work and
developing exhibitions and events for the festival’s
programme.

For 2011 HPF has brought together over 20 international, national and regional partners including Krakow Photomonth, Photovoice, the V&A, PVA Media Lab, Meadow Arts, the Institute of Art and Ideas, TROVE, Art 360, Hereford College of Arts and the University of Wales, Newport to host commissions, exhibitions, talks and events across the region.

Hereford has been a centre for photography for over 100 years. With national symposia, ground-breaking publications, and international exhibitions of photographers from the US and Russia held in the city, the festival continues to provide a hub for our partner organisation to showcase the very best of lens-based media.

HPF stands at the forefront of digital innovation, documentary and contemporary critical art practice. In a climate of cut-backs HPF, the UK’s first Photography Festival, is proud to work with our partners to place photography, video and digital art in the heart of the region and the UK’s economy.
