Gina Glover: Telling tales from a garden

Using a pinhole camera, Gina Glover takes the viewer on a journey through a series of gardens from her past, now inhabited by a new generation of children. Her vivid colour images relate to fairy tales and the lost enchantments of childhood. Within the safety of these familiar gardens, she returns to the animistic thinking of the child to revisit impressions and symbols which have haunted her all her life.

Gina Glover has worked as a photographer for many years and has been a Director of Photofusion Photography Centre, a founder member and Director of the Photo Co-op, a Director of Camerawork, a Member of Arts Council Photography Advisory Panel and on the Executive Committee of the Women's Art Library. She has been commissioned to do many exhibitions for Psychiatric Hospitals, Hospices, Hospitals, Mainliners, Red Cross and Oxfam and the National Childbirth Trust. In her most recent exhibition 'Telling Tales From A Garden', she searches for meaning and the lost enchantment of childhood, and she embarks on a second photographic quest and invites us to enter a special garden. Using pinhole photography the garden is observed as if through a keyhole. The worn paths and stonework evoke not only a sense of the past, but also of an elusive memory of the many people of all ages who lingered there. My garden becomes the safe playground for the interpretation of the symbols and impressions, which have haunted Glover all her life.

The Obsessions Group Exhibitors, Patricia Townsend, Rosy Martin, Izzy Ramsay and Gina Glover, will be conducting a seminar and discussion on Saturday 21st October
