Between Dogs and Wolves

This is a portrayal of growing up with South Africa, of not simply how the local teenagers inhabit its streets but how South Africa has inhabited its inhabitants.

Focusing on her country of birth, Jodi Bieber photographed those inhabitants from 1994 to 2004; the youth living on the fringes of South African society.

This piece is an attempt to combat the inaccurate reporting of the youth team traditionally depicted. It challenges the preconceptions of these clusters of civilisation, like shadows on the corners of the city or the city’s streets.
