Petros Village

Born in Johannesburg, Guy Tillim has kept his photographic roots deeply imbedded in his home country, depicting the sense of national identity, renewal and hope across the nation of South Africa. In Petros Village, a rural village in central Malawi, Tillim depicts the villagers’ precarious
existence under a ruthless climate, by recording their systematic daily routine, in the face of this year’s, as in every year’s, uncertain harvest.

The results are a highly eloquent set of colour images reflecting the serenity and diffidence of the villagers, and Petros itself.
