Rankin is a phenomenon and not just in the Old Street/Shoreditch area of central London, now home to an influential part of the commercial and art photography scene in the UK. His fashion/style magazine, "Dazed and Confused", based at his studios on Old Street, was one of the pioneers of the new 90's anti-tradition youth culture style and fashion photography.

"Snog" is his close up look at people kissing; multicultural, polysexual, any age. Not kissing, on the cheek pecks, but in the mouth erotic sensual expressions of affection, love and lust. Snogging isn't in the Microsoft Word dictionary, but everyone knows what it is. It's slang and means more than kissing - its touch taste and smell in a meal for two. These images are about our animal passion and our human tenderness at the same time. They show why we all love a good snog.

Rankin's accompanying book Snog is available from the Festival
