Recreate was commissioned by Hereford Photography Festival in association with Halo Leisure, to celebrate the Olympian ideal in all sports people. The project lead on from the successful Focus Here HPF project around the FA's 2010 Blind Football World cup tournament in Hereford.

Inspired by ancient Greek sculptures of Olympian Gods, and London 2012, photographers Kate Owens and Becky Matthews have created a portrait of members of the public in the pose of their favorite God or Goddess.

Participants were invited to a photo-shoot at Halo Leisure centre in Leominster to stand on the Olympic podium in the pose of their chosen Olympian God or Goddess. Members of Halo Leisure were also invited to choose the God or Goddess they identify with, and send in their own portraits, which can be seen at: www.whicholympiangodareyou.com

The resulting HPF exhibitions bring together a pantheon of present day sporting heroes, celebrating the Olympic Game’s history of sport art and culture.
